Xochi Balfour, otherwise known as The Naturalista to her followers, is a holistic wellness guide and naturopathic nutritional therapist, so it’s fair to say she knows a fair bit about keeping healthy. We caught up with her to find out what she eats on a daily basis.
7am
At the moment I wake up at around 7am or 7.30am if I’m lucky and my baby boy Sasha feels like sleeping in!
7.45am
The first thing I eat or drink is water and then a cup of Clipper English Breakfast with honey or coconut palm sugar and oat milk. Maybe two cups if it’s been a rough night with the babe. For breakfast Sasha and I are in love affair with my banana and almond butter pancakes from my book. We also like scrambled eggs with coconut oil, or porridge with tahini, garam masala, coconut oil and nut butter.
9.30am
I often have a mid-morning snack of mashed avocado or nut butter on crackers, or some miso soup with wakame and rice noodles in a mug.
12.30pm
At lunch time I’ll usually try to make the same as Sasha so it’s easy. At the moment we enjoy moroccan lentils and brown rice with roasted veggies and mashed sweet potato, and my tahini everything sauce from my book, or some wild salmon with quinoa or brown rice and veggies, or beetroot falafel and hummus.
3pm
I love biscuits so I often have a cup of tea or reishi and chicory coffee with some homemade cookies for a little afternoon pick me up.
7pm
Since it’s still winter like warm nourishing dinners at the moment, a good dahl or veggie tagging or curry with a grain and good handful of dark leafy greens is my go-to.
9pm
The time I go to bed varies hugely according to my mama demands. If I have work to do after I get Sasha down then about 10 latest, otherwise I am partial to getting tucked up at around 9 after a long bath with aromatherapy and Epsom salts. We live in the middle of the woods so it’s easiest to follow the seasonal rhythms and I can’t say I’m not looking forward to spring!
