Kirsty Gallacher: “I’ve Had To Learn That You Can’t Always Get What You Want”

3 MIN READ • 23rd October 2020

British television presenter and model Kirsty Gallacher became a familiar face for years on Sky Sports News and is now a fitness inspiration to all, so it’s no wonder she’s the new brand ambassador for Kinetica.

We caught up with her to find out about her exercise routine, how she keeps her wellbeing in check and the hardest lesson she had to learn in her career.

What is your daily routine?

“I get up around 7am each morning, and make breakfast for me and the children. After getting them ready for school, I head out on the school run. When I come back home, I do a whizz around the house and tidy up.

“I then make sure the pets are well fed and looked after (I have a tortoise and two dogs). Then depending on my time, I head into Richmond for a training session with my PT, then use the afternoon to catch up on emails and calls.”

Can you tell us about your fitness routine?

“So, I try and visit my personal trainer, Mel Deane around three times a week if I can make it. He keeps me extremely motivated to reach my goals. He offers me a wonderful mixture of cardio and weight training which I really enjoy.

“When I don’t visit Mel, I make sure I get a good 30-40 minutes on the training bike at home a couple of times a week, or if the weather is decent then go for short runs or take the dog for a walk around near home.

“I live in the beautiful Berkshire countryside, which really helps me get fresh air into my lungs and gets the blood pumping. I always make sure I include Kinetica sports nutrition into my workouts to.

“They have a fantastic range of premium supplements and snacks that help me reach my goals with my training.”

How do you keep your wellbeing in check?

“I love to head into London to visit friends when I can. I think it’s important to make sure you have a busy social life versus a busy working life. I really enjoy going out for dinners and retail therapy is always a big guilty pleasure!”

How do you deal with the critics?

“If I’m being honest, it comes with the territory of being in the public eye. We’re now able to express our opinions in so many different ways with all the different types of social media at our fingertips, but I don’t really pay it much attention.

“I don’t Google myself or read comments on gossip articles, that’s a dark hole I won’t ever get myself into, it’s not good for your mental well-being. I think people will judge you for whatever you do, you can’t please everyone, all of the time.”

What’s been the hardest lesson you’ve had to learn in your career?

“Wow that’s a tough question. I think over the years I’ve had to learn that you can’t always get what you want.

“It’s the horses for courses type of thing. I think I’ve definitely started taking a more philosophical approach and not to take things personally. If it’s meant to be, it will happen.”

What’s the one skincare product you swear by?

“I always swear by a gorgeous British skincare brand called ARK. They offer a tremendous range of products that just work for me and my skin.

“They are 100 percent ethical and animal-free. I use its cleanser and face mist religiously!”

What makes you the happiest?

“Definitely my children. Everything I do is for them. Also, my love of animals!”

Motherhood has taught me…

“I was never prepared for how emotional it makes me being a mum. Everything my children do just makes me feel so many emotions, and it’s really liberating.

“They inspire me, motivate me and just make me feel proud.”

Kirsty has recently partnered with premium sports nutrition brand, Kinetica as an ambassador to champion the benefits sports nutrition can provide in supporting an active, healthy lifestyle, particularly for women.
