Scott McGlynn is a force to be reckoned with.
Best known for his LGBT celebrity and gossip hit podcast The Scott McGlynn Show (which has featured the likes of Perez Hilton and actor David Yost, no less), Scott has also made a name for himself in the beauty industry.
He’s collaborated with a number of brands including Dermalogica, Vichy, Elemis, IT Cosmetics, ASOS, Bobbi Brown and BoohooMan, to name a few, and his loyal fans have even dubbed him the ‘skincare king‘ through his skin tips/tutorials, fashion and lifestyle Instagram content, fuelled by comments about his skin when he was in school.
Now, he hosts the IGTV series Celebrity Skin Talk that brings his passion for both skincare and celebrities together.
Here, he reveals his exact skincare routine and how he deals with confidence issues when they strike.
What is your daily skincare routine?
“I have two routines: one for the morning and one for the evening. I use a cleanser, toner and serum, then I apply an SPF so my skin is protected for the day.
“Before I go to bed, I’ll apply an eye cream and a thick night cream too.”
Do you have any tips for acne sufferers?
“Don’t be afraid to try new things. I was scared to try other products in case my skin would react badly, but just make sure you do some research so you know what the ingredients are in the products.”
How do you deal with confidence issues?
“It took me while. I’ve always suffered with my confidence, from my voice to my skin, especially as I’m on camera so much.
“Now I know who I really am and I give myself a confidence boost every morning in the mirror, whether my skin is clear or if I see a few spots that day.”
Who is your inspiration?
“I’ve got to give it to Victoria Beckham. Growing up with her, she’s always been public about her skin problems, so she’s a great role model and inspiration that you can do what ever you what to do without letting the appearance of your skin effect your confidence.”
What are the best things to look for in a skincare product?
“I always check the ingredients – that’s a must – and get the products that my skin needs.
“I know so many people who buy anti-ageing products just because they’re scared of getting wrinkles, but if you have blemishes for example, you’ll need something to control that instead.
“We need to remember that our skin goes through so much and we can tackle it stage by stage.”
Three products you can’t live without?
“A lip balm , SPF 50 (I burn too easily!) and maybe a toning mist spray.”
